New article on the relationship between anonymisation and anonymous information

The relationship between ‘anonymisation’ and ‘anonymous information’ is not straightforward in theory or practice.

I explored the relationship between these two concepts using recent draft guidance on anonymisation and pseudonymisation from the Information Commissioner’s Office.

One area where I feel further clarification would be helpful is how ‘anonymous information’ can be simultaneously:

• Not subject to UK GDPR
• Contingent on the party processing the information (‘whose hands’)
